Walt Disney World is home to four magical theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Guests can dine at incredible restaurants, hotels, and even within the theme parks themselves. One of the most popular restaurants is located in Magic Kingdom, and it promises a delightful dining experience. Be Our Guest immerses guests in the enchanting world of Beauty and the Beast, allowing them to dine just like the royal couple in the iconic grand ballroom, the west wing, or the rose gallery. This is only the beginning of the experience—keep reading to learn more about the food and a few tips and surprises.

Dining at Be Our Guest has been a dream of mine since the restaurant opened in 2012. Disney Imagineers do an incredible job with every project they undertake, so I knew the restaurant would not be an exception. One intriguing aspect of Be Our Guest is that you can only enter with a dining reservation (sorry, upset villagers!). This adds to the exclusive feel and experience that guests encounter inside the Beast's castle. The restaurant is located in Fantasyland, and its design unmistakably sets the scene. To enter the castle, guests must cross a charming bridge adorned with light poles and gargoyle statues. When we visited the restaurant, the 'Happily Ever After' nighttime spectacular was happening, and here's your first tip: if you want incredible firework photos, take them from the bridge of the castle, as the fireworks for the show are set off behind it. I captured some amazing photos—thanks to Danny!

Once inside the castle, you are immediately transported into the magical love story of Belle and the Beast. While waiting for your table, you can roam the halls of the castle and explore the decor, including a suit of armor on display and the Grand Hall, which boasts a beautiful Parisian-style chandelier. This chandelier is a spectacle in itself; it measures about 12 feet wide and features 84 candles and 100 crystals. The Grand Ballroom is baroque in style with gothic accents like snow-laced arches.

That evening, Danny and I dined in the Rose Gallery. We had the most amazing cast member, Moses, who treated us like royalty throughout the evening. If you are unfamiliar with Be Our Guest, both lunch and dinner meals are priced per person. The cost is $72 per adult (ages 10 and up) for dinner and $43 per child (ages 3-9). We started the night by each ordering the Be Our Guest Private Label Wine Sampler, which includes three smaller glasses from their private label. The private label features four wines: Enchante Champagne Brut, Enchante Rosé, L'Ombre de la Bête (Shadow of the Beast) Chardonnay, and L'Ombre de la Bête Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a full-bodied wine. We both chose the Rosé and two Shadow of the Beast wines and enjoyed the Châteauneuf-du-Pape so much that we ordered a bottle!

As part of the meal, guests can choose one appetizer, including potato and leek soup, tuna tartare, French onion soup au gratin, a mixed green salad, or escargot de Bourgogne. I selected the French onion soup, while Danny ordered the tuna tartare. Both were great, but I think we enjoyed the soup the most. Next, we chose our entrees from the following options: short rib beef bourguignon, dry-aged Duroc pork chop, roasted poulet rouge chicken, charred eggplant, grilled filet mignon, or trout amandine. We opted for the grilled filet mignon, which was served with smashed potatoes, haricots verts (green beans), and a brandy-peppercorn sauce. The meal's presentation was beautiful, and although it wasn't the best filet mignon we've ever had, I would recommend it to anyone interested in trying it. The best filet mignon we've had at Walt Disney World was at Topolino's Terrace. I love braised short rib, so next time, I will probably order the short rib beef bourguignon.

Throughout our meal (which lasted a long time), we were treated to special surprises as the Beast himself made appearances around the castle and greeted guests at their tables. Moses timed our pictures perfectly, capturing Danny and me with the Beast in the background.

The last course of the meal was dessert, and I was very much looking forward to trying the "grey stuff"—because it's delicious, or so Lumière says! There are two dessert options on the menu: the Dessert Trio, which includes a chocolate tart, dark chocolate and orange cognac truffle, and lemon jam macaron, and the Vanilla Cake with Lemon Curd. Of course, I chose the Dessert Trio, which included the grey stuff. Overall, I enjoyed the grey stuff, a delicious grey-colored mousse with a creamy vanilla flavor that topped the chocolate tart. I didn’t have a huge sweet tooth for the other desserts, but I wish I could have an entire dish of the grey stuff!

Before the evening concluded, we finished the rest of our bottle of wine since Disney does not allow guests to take it out of the restaurant. Because it is a private label for Be Our Guest, we could only take pictures of it for memories. However, Moses surprised us at the end of the night with the bottle's cork, an autograph from the Beast, and a well-preserved wine label from a previous bottle. I can't wait to enjoy this wine again during a future visit.

So, would we recommend Be Our Guest? The short answer is YES! The ambiance is incredible and magical. Restaurants like Be Our Guest embody the charm of Disney and definitely have that "it" factor in terms of service, food, and overall experience. We enjoyed our conversations with Moses, and while the food wasn’t the best we’ve ever had, it was good and worth the visit.
