Boatwright's Dining Hall Restaurant Review- Southern Hospitality Served Daily

A Culinary Journey into Southern Comfort

Want to try cornbread that tastes so good you forget it's not dessert? Head down to Boatwright's Dining Hall at Disney's Port Orleans Resort for a Southern comfort meal!

Boatwright's Dining Hall offers guests an American, casual dining experience at a moderately affordable price, with meals starting at $19 per adult. My visit to Boatwright's was also my first visit to Disney's Port Orleans. Usually, when I vacation at Disney World, my family and I stay in the Boardwalk area or near the Magic Kingdom at Bay Lake Tower. I always enjoy being able to explore new regions of Disney because it makes me think about the scale of the World and appreciate every inch of the design that went into the creation of the resorts, restaurants, and experience.

Being from the South, I had my tastebuds ready to judge the food at Boatwright's. The appetizer menu consists of some of my favorite soups: French Onion and Crawfish Bisque. Both pair nicely with Boatwright's signature, moist, hot cornbread served with butter (and yes, it tastes like a cake).

Culinary Delights at Boatwright's Dining Hall

Now let's talk Entrées. As a personal preference, I don't eat pork, so I didn't try Boatwright's Jambalaya, however it can be ordered as a vegetarian entrée. The dish consists of spicy shrimp, andouille sausage, and chicken served with rice. Alternatively, the Harvest Jambalaya is made with a spicy tomato rice with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and garlic! Can't you just taste the flavors already?!

If you're in the mood for another Southern classic meal, try the Deep South Shrimp and Grits which features creamy grits, shrimp, and andouille sausage. Additional items on the menu include a Nashville Hot Chicken, Prime Ribs, Barbecued Ribs, or The Big Easy (1o oz New York Strip with Crawfish Macaroni & Cheese). For $10 more guests can add the crawfish macaroni & cheese or lump crab cakes to any entrée.

Boatwright's doesn't skimp out on the kiddos when it comes to their menu. Kids can create their own entrée from a selection of Grilled Chicken Skewers, Steak Kabobs, Grilled Mahi-Mahi, and more! Complete the meal by choosing two sides from a list that includes roasted potatoes, whole grain rice, buttered elbow pasta, and nine additional sides.

Sweet Eats

I love going to restaurants that offer so many fantastic dessert options that it is challenging yet fun to choose just one, and Boatwright's is one of those restaurants. Guests can order the Mississippi Mud Crème Brûlée, the Pecan Pie Cheesecake, a Lemon Chess Bar, Bread Pudding, and a trio of Southern-inspired sorbet. Which dessert would you choose? Remember that if you dine with multiple guests, maybe everyone can select a different dessert and share them all!

Overall, I recommend Boatwright's because the food is tasty and filling. I enjoy the ambiance and decor, and it's nice to visit other WDW resorts and experience Disney's culinary take on a specific culture or cuisine.
