Walt Disney World Tips for a Great Day

Pro Tips for Navigating Walt Disney World

Over the years, I've tested strategies for a successful Rapunzel-approved "Best Day Ever" formula. Here are some of my tips that will make you feel like a pro navigating the parks any day at Walt Disney World.

Rope Drop at Walt Disney World

Start your day at any of the parks by experiencing rope drop, a fun Disney term used to describe the opening celebrations of the theme parks. Every day, guests have the opportunity to arrive at the four theme parks before they open and wait behind ropes at the entrance. Although you will have to wake up a little earlier in the morning to get to the parks before they open, rope drop provides the advantage of being able to be first in line for attractions when they open. This essentially saves you from booking attractions with Genie+. Or you could also take advantage of booking a ride through Genie+ early in the morning and also experience the same attraction via rope drop.

Prioritize Popular Rides in the Morning

Prioritize Popular rides in the morning. This tip is super helpful if you rope drop. Make a list of your must-ride attractions at each theme park and prioritize riding them first after the rope drop.

Take Mid-Day Breaks

Not only does this replenish your energy, but it also allows you to schedule your attractions throughout the day and enjoy the beauty of the parks at night.

Save Money by Bringing Your Food & Beverages

Save Money by bringing your own Food and beverages. Food and drinks at the theme parks are expensive, so I suggest packing your food and non-alcoholic beverages into the parks to save money.

Capture the Magic: Take Pictures

Take photos to reflect on the magical experiences throughout your day. If you are not interested in capturing the memories yourself, use Disney's PhotoPass service, which allows you to work with photographers throughout the four parks to take pictures near iconic areas. Certain attractions also capture memorable photos during the rides, which can also be purchased through PhotoPass.

Wear Comfortable Walking Shoes

Sometimes, I joke that I walk more during my Disney vacations than usual. Regardless of which park you visit, your feet will thank you later if you wear comfortable shoes and attire to walk in.

Pack Smart, Pack Light

Every day before I visit the parks, I check the weather, especially because a light shower is common in Orlando. I gear up with a backpack or fanny pack to hold all of my essentials, and I try to make room for any additional items I bring back from the parks.

Embark on your Walt Disney World adventure with these insider tips, and you'll make every visit the "Best Day Ever." Remember, the magic is in the details, and with some planning, you can create memories that will last a lifetime. Enjoy your magical journey!
